On July 21, 2021, the Tashkent Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence for European Studies and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy held a joint scientific and practical conference on the topic “Regional integration and cooperation in Central Asia: European experience in solving problems”. The conference was attended by representatives of the Senate, the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies, the Academy of Sciences, and the Development Strategy Center. In addition, the conference was attended by prominent scientists from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, the Academy of Public Administration, Westminster International University in Tashkent, Tashkent State University of Law, Tashkent State University of Economics and non-state research centers. Presentations and discussions were conducted in three languages.
The following topics have been discussed:
- The process of integration of the European Union: the main stages and the current state;
- Genesis and main problems of regional cooperation in Central Asia: lessons from European experience;
- Relations between the European Union and Central Asia: new global realities.
The conference, which was full of debates, discussed a number of topical issues facing the regions and sought solutions together. At the end of the conference, new goals, tasks and new points of cooperation were identified.
