Initiator, Coordinator and Chief executive of grants: BF-F7-037 «The constitutional and legal foundations of the establishment and interaction of state government and self-governance bodies» (2007-2011); F1-089 “State-legal directions of liberalization of the functions of local government and self-government authorities in Uzbekistan” (2012-2016); YoA 2-FQ-0-16653 YoA 2-009 “Ensuring freedom of choice in Uzbekistan is the basis of national model of statehood” (2015-2016) sponsored by Committee for Coordination of Science and Technology Development under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
She was a national expert for the joint project of the EU and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Uzbekistan funded DCI Program in Uzbekistan "Strengthening the Bicameral Parliamentary System and Developing Relations with the Local Councils in Uzbekistan" (2013-2014).
Her role in the Project: As a Staff category I (Senior official/Vice-Rector) according to ISCO-88 (COM), she is Head of Project`s Team of UWED and Legal Representative acting on behalf of UWED and providing mid-point and final progress reports on Project`s activities. She is responsible for a whole Project`s accomplishment keeping all Project’s entities working together, assuring internal coherence and solidarity. Her personal responsibility includes also to assure in a timely manner research publications and teaching activities foreseen within the Project.
Dr Akram Umarov is Senior Research Fellow at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. Previously he worked as a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He received Master’s and PhD Degrees in International Relations at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. He also graduated with MA degree in Governance, Development and Public Policy from Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex (UK).
He has great interest in security studies, conflict management, public diplomacy, Afghanistan, Central Asian studies, CIS countries, public administration, global security, peace and development.
Visiting professor of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne university in 2014, Oxford university in 2018, Visiting research fellow of University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 2019.
Master’s degree from Sophia Antipolis University (France) in 2000. PhD in Law (2009). The topic of PhD dissertation was “Legal bases of the relations between the European Union and Uzbekistan”.
Initiator, Coordinator and Chief executive of the Community co-financing grant “Jean Monnet Chair in EU Law and Politics” (Project number № 575001-EPP-1-2016-1-UZ-EPPJMO-CHAIR) for 2016-2019; “Teaching the European Union Law” within “Lifelong Learning Program (LLP) – Jean Monnet Programme, Key Activity 1 – EU Teaching module” [Project №: 200282-LLP-1-2011-1-UZ-AJM-MO] during 2011-2014 and “Support for education, information and research activities on European Union integration” within “Lifelong Learning Program (LLP) – Jean Monnet Programme, Key Activity 1 – Research activities” [Project №: 154227-LLP-1-2009-1-UZ-AJM-IC] during 2009-2010.
He served as a coordinator of UWED for the EU sponsored project “Strengthening and Energizing EU-Central Asia relations (SEnECA)” within the Programme “Horizon – 2020” – Research and Innovation under the call ENG-GLOBALLY-07-2017 - The European Union and Central Asia” [Agreement №: 770256 - SEnECA - H2020-SC6-ENG-GLOBALLY-2016-017/H2020-SC6-ENGGLOBALLY-2017] during 2018-2019.
He is currently teaching EU Law related courses for bachelors and Master students of UWED. Author of 70 publications on EU integration issues.
His role in the Project: As a Staff category II (Coordinator/Chief executive/teacher/senior researcher) according to ISCO-88 (COM), he is executive responsible for the Project on behalf of UWED. He coordinates all activities in both organizational and methodological concepts: Contacting European partners, arranging inter-institutional meetings, organizing events, drafting mid-point and final Progress Reports, preparing information and news for media-press and others belong to his competence. He is personal responsible for Website building process and secure consistent work of the Project website.
He is also team-leader of Work Group of Lawyers (WGL), and simultaneously, performs task leader position for legal teaching activities under Work Package I (L), being responsible for the implementation of a new specialized course “Substantive Law of the EU”. Finally, he will lead data-base building process and publish a Catalogue of Experts “Who is who in EU studies in Uzbekistan”.

PhD in Economics (2007). The topic of dissertation: “The stimulation of foreign economic activities of small business entities in Uzbekistan”.
Well known professor and author of 50 publications in International economic relation. She is currently teaching “International Economics”, “Economic Globalization”, “World Economy” (Bachelor) courses at the International Economics and Management Department of UWED.
She actively participated in the previous Jean Monnet project “Support for education, information and research activities on European Union integration” within “Lifelong Learning Program (LLP) – Jean Monnet Programme, Key Activity 1 – Research activities” [Project №: 154227-LLP-1-2009-1-UZ-AJM-IC] during 2009-2010 being Team leader of Work Group “EU-Uzbek business partnership”.
She was key expert of the EU sponsored project “Strengthening and Energizing EU-Central Asia relations (SEnECA)” within the Programme “Horizon – 2020” – Research and Innovation under the call ENG-GLOBALLY-07-2017 - The European Union and Central Asia” [Agreement №: 770256 - SEnECA - H2020-SC6-ENG-GLOBALLY-2016-017/H2020-SC6-ENGGLOBALLY-2017] during 2018-2019.
Her role in the Project: As a Staff category II (Coordinator/Chief executive/teacher/senior researcher) according to ISCO-88 (COM), she is Team leader of Work Group Economists (WGE) and, simultaneously, performs Task leader position for economics teaching activities under Work Package III (E), being responsible for the implementation of a new course “WTO/EU trade standards: correlative teaching”. She will assume elaboration of course programme and high quality of teaching of this course.
Additionally, she will also take part in the Project`s events and dissemination activities.
